The EFE-SIG is important as it suggests a unique perspective. We aim to contribute to the perception of Economics and Finance of Education as a global issue and not just a national issue. In addition, we highlight the importance of the EFE-SIG, as currently Education Finance issues are rarely addressed from the perspective of Comparative Education.

Currently, there are only 3 conferences for scholars in the field (1). The National Education Finance Conference-NEFC, (2) The Association of Education Finance and Policy-AEFP, and (3) The AERA SIG on Fiscal Issues, Policy and Education Finance. Most of these conferences focus on the domestic aspects of Education Finance. The scope of the proposed EFE-SIG is therefore unique. CIES is therefore of a strategic importance to establishing new roads for International and Comparative studies in the field of Ed. Finance.
